Welcome to the Open Door Baptist Church. We are a christian, bible teaching and believing church, daily empowered by the word of God. As pastor, it is my mission to introduce everyone that I can, to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As a leader, I am committed to service and helping others to find their gifts, so that they too can serve the Lord. One of my most favorite sayings is, membership, with the body of Christ, has it's privileges. However, I will always be honest in letting you know that walking with God is never easy, but it is truly worth it. For it is our belief that Christ died for us, to ultimately receive a wonderful blessing and our belief in Him, guarantees us a place in heaven.
From the Pastor's Desk
September's Message from Rev. Dr. Bernard M. Taylor
Greetings,
This month, I want to first take a moment to congratulate the Women’s
Ministry for the wonderful program that was held around the theme, “A Cup of
Grace.”
The organizers did a wonderful job, and the program was very well presented. I
want to thank everyone who gave of their time, talents, and efforts to make this
occasion such a meaningful and memorable event.
I also want to thank the African Heritage Day Celebration Team for putting
together another wonderful program this year. The message, interaction, music,
decorations, and food all contributed to a beautiful celebration. I appreciate
everyone who worked so diligently to make the day special.
Finally, I want to thank the Church Anniversary Committee for meeting the
challenges of preparing this year’s observance, especially after having to make
several scheduling adjustments. Each event was beautifully made special
because of the time, energy, and dedication that every committee put into its
work.
This has been an extremely busy time, and we are not finished yet!
Next up are Community Day and Women’s Day celebrations. We can always
do a much better job when we work together. I am asking each one of you to
join in and do whatever you are able to do to help make each and everything we
do the very best that it can be.

Finally, I close this letter on the eve of my surgery for cancer. It has been ten
years, and I am truly thankful that the Lord has kept me. I am humbled that God
has allowed me the great privilege and honor of serving you as your pastor.
I thank each of you for your prayers, your love, and your continued support. As
we continue on this journey together, let us remember that each one of us has a
part to play and a purpose to fulfill. Let us continue to do the part to which God
has called us.

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount
up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk,
and not faint.”
