Rev. Dr. Bernard M.Taylor

Welcome to the Open Door Baptist Church.  We are a christian, bible teaching and believing church, daily empowered by the word of God.  As pastor, it is my mission to introduce everyone that I can, to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  As a leader, I am committed to service and helping others to find their gifts, so that they too can serve the Lord. One of my most favorite sayings is, membership, with the body of Christ, has it's privileges.  However, I will always be honest in letting you know that  walking with God is never easy, but it is truly worth it. For it is our belief that Christ died for us, to ultimately receive a wonderful blessing and our belief in Him, guarantees us a place in heaven.

April's Message from Rev. Dr. Bernard M. Taylor

Greetings,

As we enter into this sacred season of Passover, we are reminded of many things during this critical time of worldwide unrest. We find ourselves front-row witnesses to one of the most disturbing and troubling periods in recent human history.

Not only is the great nation in which we live continually bombarded by one crisis after another, but we also see growing hardship in the daily lives of ordinary people. Financial struggles are widespread. Many are asked to work and serve faithfully, yet they are not compensated with the wages necessary to survive. The costs of daycare, housing, food, gasoline, clothing, and healthcare—those basic necessities required for everyday living—continue to rise and remain out of reach for many.

At the same time, there are those who already possess more wealth than they could spend in a lifetime, yet continue striving to gain even more. The imbalance we see in the world today is deeply troubling. For many, hope seems to be fading, and those who have tried to keep hope alive often feel crushed by the weight of circumstances.

Social injustice has risen to alarming levels. Citizens’ rights are often challenged, and many people struggle each day simply trying to hold on. A nation that once boldly declared as its creed, “In God We Trust,” appears at times to have abandoned the very tenets of faith that once set it apart.

Yet it was at a time such as this that God chose to send the world a light and a beacon that would never be extinguished.

One of the most powerful passages in all of Scripture reminds us of this truth:

John 3:16 (KJV)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Today, when the world may seem as though it is falling apart, we can still have hope in Jesus Christ. This hope in our Lord is the very reason we celebrate during this Passover season. It is a time to remember that Christ came to call citizens into the Kingdom of God and to save us from our sins.

Therefore, we continue to hold on and hold out as we wait for His return. Yes, Jesus went away—but He promised that He would return, and one day He surely will.

My beloved, let us continue to do as He has commanded: to be salt and light before the countless masses during this crucial time. Let us remain faithful, knowing that when the Lord returns—and only then—everything will truly be made right.

I would also like to extend special thanks to the Anniversary Committee for their hard work and dedication, and to the entire church family for the many acts of kindness expressed and shared during what was truly one of the best anniversary celebrations we have ever experienced.

Thank you all.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Bernard M. Taylor

      Pastor Taylor in Cairo, Egypt

With every mission trip, there is also an opportunity to simply take in other parts of the world.  On the 2023 Kenya Mission Trip, the team made their way to Egypt after the mission work was completed.

Witnessing Pyramids up close and personal were truly a blessing from God. Pastor Taylor will share more of his adventures in Africa.
