Welcome to the Open Door Baptist Church. We are a christian, bible teaching and believing church, daily empowered by the word of God. As pastor, it is my mission to introduce everyone that I can, to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As a leader, I am committed to service and helping others to find their gifts, so that they too can serve the Lord. One of my most favorite sayings is, membership, with the body of Christ, has it's privileges. However, I will always be honest in letting you know that walking with God is never easy, but it is truly worth it. For it is our belief that Christ died for us, to ultimately receive a wonderful blessing and our belief in Him, guarantees us a place in heaven.
GREETINGS,
This month I want to pause and reflect on a few stressful things that have been on my mind. I do recognize the need in everyone’s life for “self-care.” I do also realize that such care is not an option and it is necessary for all of us. Many persons have different coping mechanisms that they may not even be aware of that force them into a different pattern.
These movements become identifiable as being valuable or helpful after they have forced you to make adjustments. One great and very important key thing is to do for yourself what may be necessary before it gets to a critical stage. We perform what is called routine maintenance on a car or machinery to prevent it from breaking down or stopping abruptly. So in these very challenging times we mere mortals require maintenance breaks or adjustments.
Jesus who is our example in all things, found it not just helpful but necessary to “Draw Away.”
Matthew 14:23 (KJV)
And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
Being away and often just spending quality time with our source of strength and help can be a very powerful experience. It will provide new insights to the work and help bring focus to this journey called LIFE!
As we begin a new season of summer, each one of us should make the time, take the time and seek opportunities for rest, relaxation and spiritual renewal! Remember, Jesus did! But don’t forget to come back and CONTINUE the work when you are done!
Last year we recognized the 50th Anniversary of the Open Door Baptist Church. It was celebrated with joy and thanksgiving to the Lord for how He has blessed us with so many years to serve Him! When we celebrate our church anniversary later this year, some extra time will be devoted to remembering all of those whom we lost during the almost 5 years of dealing with the pandemic. As we can recall, gatherings and funerals were restricted and many of these type services were cut short. Plans are being made for a remembrance ceremony to which families and friends will be invited to come and share with us. We hope this will be a blessing to all. More information will follow as plans are developed and finalized.
Finally, I want to salute all of the fathers and the men of Open Door. Thank you for what you give and how you serve! Happy and blessed Father's Day to each of you!

With every mission trip, there is also an opportunity to simply take in other parts of the world. On the 2023 Kenya Mission Trip, the team made their way to Egypt after the mission work was completed.
Witnessing Pyramids up close and personal were truly a blessing from God. Pastor Taylor will share more of his adventures in Africa.
